Is a 65 inch TV much bigger than 55?

A 65-inch TV is 22.1 cm wider and 12.5 cm taller than a 55-inch TV. Its 16:9 screen has about 40% more area, which is a visible jump when both TVs are viewed from the same seat.

Is it worth going from 55 to 65 inches?

Going from 55 to 65 inches is worth considering when you sit far enough back for a 65-inch screen or prefer a more immersive view. Check the available wall or furniture width first: the 65-inch screen alone is 143.9 cm wide, compared with 121.8 cm for 55 inches.

How much bigger is each size step?

On a standard 16:9 TV, each extra inch of diagonal adds about 2.2 cm of screen width and 1.2 cm of screen height. A 5-inch step adds about 11.1 cm of width, while a 10-inch step adds about 22.1 cm. Area rises faster because it depends on both dimensions.

Do bigger TVs look worse up close?

A larger TV can feel uncomfortable up close if the viewing angle is too wide or the source is poor, but a good 4K source supports closer seating than HD. Use the viewing-distance calculator to compare a balanced mixed-use range with a more cinematic range before deciding.
