How far should I sit from a 65 inch TV?
For mixed viewing, sit about 8.1 to 13.5 feet (2.5 to 4.1 metres) from a 65-inch TV. For a cinematic field of view, sit about 6.5 feet (2.0 metres) away. A 55-inch TV works from 6.9 to 11.5 feet for mixed viewing, while a 75-inch TV works from 9.4 to 15.6 feet.
Is sitting too close to a TV bad?
Sitting close to a TV does not normally damage your eyes, but glare, excessive brightness or an uncomfortable viewing angle can cause temporary eye strain. Move back, lower brightness, reduce reflections or choose a smaller screen if viewing feels tiring.
What distance for 4K vs HD?
4K is most likely to look sharper than HD when the screen is large enough or the seat is close enough for HD pixels to be visible. At greater distances, both HD and 4K pixels become too small for normal 20/20 vision to resolve, so the visible difference shrinks. Use the calculator’s acuity line as a practical threshold, not a guarantee.
What if my room is too small for the size I want?
Use the smaller end of the mixed-use range, reduce glare and choose a screen that leaves clear walkways and furniture space. A 4K TV can be watched closer than an HD TV, but comfort and a relaxed eye line still matter more than forcing a large screen into a tight room.
Does mounting height change viewing distance?
Mounting height does not change the horizontal viewing-distance calculation, but it changes viewing comfort. Centre the screen near seated eye level where practical, avoid a steep upward viewing angle and plan the mount around the model’s VESA pattern. See the TV fit checker for clearance guidance.
