How much wider should a TV stand be than the TV?
A TV stand should be at least as wide as the TV screen, with about 5 cm of clearance at each side where practical. Check the model’s feet spacing because the feet, not only the screen, must sit on a stable surface.
Can a TV hang over the edge of a stand?
A screen can extend beyond a stand visually, but the TV’s feet must sit fully on a level, stable surface. Do not rely on screen width alone: some models have feet near the outer edges while others place them closer to the centre.
How much clearance does a TV need?
A TV needs room for cables, ventilation and installation. Leave about 5 cm at each side where practical, keep vents clear and check cabinet depth against the stand’s footprint. A wall-mounted TV still needs space for cables and the mount mechanism.
Do I need wall studs to mount a TV?
A wall mount should be fixed to suitable wall structure such as studs or rated masonry anchors, using a mount that matches the TV’s VESA pattern and weight. Do not rely on ordinary plasterboard fixings for a heavy television. If the wall is uncertain, use a qualified installer.
What if the TV does not fit the cabinet?
